Majeed Waris' cameo not enough as Strasbourg lose to Reims

Ghanaian striker Abdul Majeed Waris climbed from the bench for Strasbourg in the French Ligue 1 game against Reims but could not do enough as his team succumbed to a 2-1 defeat.

It is Strasbourg's seventh defeat this campaign as they are struggling in the absence of injured marksman Lebo Mothiba.

Waris replaced Sanjin Prcic in the 76th minute at the Stade Auguste-Delaune II to make his seventh appearance in the French top-flight this season.

The Ghanaian could do very little to alter the situation as first half goals from Mathieu Cafaro and Wout Faes gave the host all three points.

Ludovic Ajorque pulled one back for Strasbourg from the penalty spot on the half-hour mark but it was not enough to inspire a comeback.

There was no place in the squad for Black Stars new boy Alexander Djiku as Strasbourg are struggling in the French Ligue 1 lying 19th on the league log.
