Former Hearts of Oak head coach Kim Grant has claimed pride in striker Kofi Kodzi's debute goal at Muaither SC, saying the former Hearts youngster has "proved doubters wrong".
The former Hearts of Oak hitman on Thursday scored a goal with a volley to mark his debut for Qatari Muaither SC in a 2-2 drawn game at home to Al-Shahania.
The powerful striker scored the game’s opener in the 23rd minute to give his side the lead before the visitors fought back to end the first half with a 2-1 lead.
Grant, who coached the bulky striker at Hearts, feels vindicated at the back of the quick rise of the youngster, who joined the Qatari side just after 18 months with the Phobians.
"Kofi Kordzi, Proud of you Bro, I remember when I signed you from an amateur 3rd Division club, people were critical of me and you stating you can’t run, you’re overweight, after 7 months at the club you’ve got transferred and moved to another level," Grant said on his Facebook wall.
”You’ve proved doubters wrong, you deserve this move. Great debut goal and hopefully more to come.”
Muaither SC scored their second goal to level the game with 17 minutes left on the clock to end the match
Kofi Kordzi joined the Qatari side this summer from Ghana premier league giants Hearts of Oak.
It is a good start for the Ghanaian youngster, who left Accra Hearts of oak after 18 months.
He was Accra Hearts of Oak's leading goalscorers cancelled 2020/21 league season.
The 25-year-old completed a $150000 to Qatari-side Muaither SC a few weeks ago, and Kordzi didn’t waste time as he scored the first goal for his new club on Thursday evening.
