Black Stars midfielder Bernard Mensah has tested positive for coronavirus as announced by his club Besiktas.

The white and Blacks on Wednesday announced that their player has contracted the coronavirus pandemic after returning from national team duties.

Mensah was part of the Ghana Black Stars team that played two friendly games in Antalya against Mali and Qatar.

Health Board Coordinator at Besiktas, Dr. Tekin Kerem Ülkü made this announcement known.

An official statement from Besiktas read:

"The routine Covid-19 PCR test applied by our club on the return of our football player Bernard Mensah to the Ghana National Team camp where he was invited, was positive. Bernard Mensah's follow-up and treatment process was initiated in accordance with the relevant protocols."

The player started in Ghana's three nil loss to Mali last Friday at Antalya but was an unused substitute on Monday when Ghana beat Asian Champions Qatar 5-1.

Mensah is the second person to have tested positive for coronavirus in the Ghana contingent after Jones Abu Alhassan a management committee member of the team.
