Local players can breathe a huge sigh of relief as the Black Stars coach has indicated that playing in the local league will not be a hindrance to call ups into the senior national team the Black Stars.
According to C.K Akonnor he will set up a scouting team that will monitor the performance of players in the local league when football resumes.
The former Kotoko, AshantiGold trainer has never hidden his desire to give opportunities to players in the local league.
In his first call up for the 2019 AFCON double header against Sudan, he handed call ups to four local players although the match never came up due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“What we have done is to set (up) a scouting team that will go round to do all that, including myself." he told Starr Fm.
“For instance, if the league is going on, I will probably be in Obuasi, we will do the regions,” Coach C.K Akonnor revealed.
“So we’ll have…in the Ashanti Region, we’ll have 2 (scouts), Western Region, we’ll have 2, the Western Region will be combined with Greater Accra. So that’s how we’re going to do” he said.
