Nana Owusu Acheampong files nomination forms to contest NPP Atwima Kwanwoma Primaries

Nana Owusu Acheampong has filed his nomination forms to contest in the New Patriotic Party’s upcoming parliamentary primaries in the Atwima Kwanwoma constituency of the Ashanti Region.

He was escorted by his supporters to file his nomination forms at the party’s constituency office.

The party will conduct parliamentary primaries in areas where it has sitting Members of Parliament (MP) on April 25, 2020.

Presenting his forms at the constituency office, Nana said, he has contributed his quota towards the development of the constituency in terms of education, training and support.

He said, lobbying for projects in the constituency is what they lack currently and for that matter, stepping up to contest in a bid to help solve the persistent problems in the area.

Asked why he is contesting the incumbent MP, he said, "I cannot review the performance of the sitting MP but what I know is that the constituents feel he has not lived up to expectations and advocating for a change"

"Despite being in Parliament for 12 years, the constituency is far behind in terms of development and I think they really need a change," he said.

He highlighted empowerment as policies he intends to bring on board when given the nod.

He said he will empower the people particularly those who are into farming, small scale business amongst others having done a couple of such empowerment programs.

Touching on education, he said, he is looking forward to setting up an education fund to support brilliant but needy students in his quest to improve the level of education.

He described the level of education there as "nothing to write home about" and hopeful he can turn things around when given the power.

"If you have an MP who does not connect with the party's structure, then you have a big problem especially when the party is in power. Your ability to lobby for projects, solutions and interventions make you a good MP beyond your performance in Parliament. When your government is in power you should be able to lobby and that is what we are bringing on board" he added.

He pointed poor road networks as a major problem for the area and that, he has expressed readiness to connect with authorities so it can be fixed.

He has therefore called on delegates to look at the skills of each aspirant and should not vote based on popularity and money but the one who can perform well for the constituency to vote for him when the time is due.
